Powerful Web Based Software Tool for Managing your Plant
General Description and Applications
WMP is a software for managing an updating geo-referenced
database on your assets and plant resources. It allows the control and best use
of the resources available, by the instant visualization of existing equipment
and infrastructure in each location or site within your network.
For Telecom operators, both fixed and mobile, it permits to
visualize each network element, the installed equipment, its capacity, upgrade
possibilities, and technical characteristics. Pictures and diagrams of the site
location and its neighborhood, equipment bay-faces and technical schemes can be
part of the data base as well.
Totally Web based, WMP is installed in customer’s own network
server, permitting, to duly authorized staff to update files, either by editing
or dynamically inputting new information or even new sites, equipment or
modules, whenever upgrades or modifications in network configuration are made.
Using WMP, network proprietors acquire a complete structured
management capability of their assets, with total control on their resources
and the optimization of their use, thus avoiding duplication or unnecessary
investments. Flexibility and speed in expanding and upgrading the operating
network are among other advantages WMP provides to operators.
Architecture
The system interface is totally Web based, needing only Internet
Explorer in user’s workstation. It is installed only in the web servers and can
be expanded to other servers using a loading balancing software or hardware
between user stations and servers.
Due to its object oriented architecture, WiNGS solution – WMP -
is easy and fast to implement, maintain and expand. The system uses a unified
structure to store the common characteristics to all network elements, and the
navigation (expansion of the branches) can be done through this centralized
structure.
Navigation and Relationships
WMP allows the navigation through all relationships between elements using
hyper-links. This can be done through its graphical user interface, by clicking
on the correspondent hyper-link. Other than navigating through internal
information, the system also permits external links navigation using Internet,
as shown below:

Exploring database, by expanding the branches of a tree, is also possible as shown in the example:
Geo-reference
All objects can have their geographic location registered in the
data base permitting its exhibition in maps, and the access to information
based on space relationship between elements.
Associated Documents
WMP allows the storage of files associated to all levels of network elements of
the plant. These files may include text documents, as well as pictures,
schemes, diagrams, etc.
Access Control / Security
The system requires the authentication of all users, each one of them being associated to a certain profile defining the authorized actions.
Storage and Data Import
The maintenance of registers in the system can be done in two
different ways: interactively by the user, or in batches (imported). New
batches are registered in two steps, the user being able to check and cancel
his actions before execution. The second step executes the modifications in the
data base.
Data Export
WMP permits to export all its entries to a certain file. The
format of the exported file is the same as used for importing. This format
(XML) can be easily imported by all major softwares in the market, including
Miscrosoft Office family (excel, word, access).
Interface with External Systems
Customers can specify external systems with which WMP will
interface, providing also the type of data to be exchanged. WiNGS can deliver
“satellite systems”, responsible for this data interchange and format
conversion. These systems can be set to automatically update the files and
convert the format, without need of user’s intervention.
Contracts, Events and Trouble Tickets
The system also permits that authorized users may access and input contracts, events and trouble tickets or assistance requests associated to any object registered.
